The Great Outdoors
Al aire libre
Outdoor play is an essential part of our daily routine, and we actively encourage children to explore the outdoors in all weathers. Every child, including our babies, enjoys time outside at least twice a day, supporting their physical development, wellbeing and connection to the natural world. We also enrich their experiences with regular local trips to places such as the park, post office, shops and even the fire station, helping them learn about their community in meaningful, hands‑on ways.
We are incredibly fortunate to have outdoor environments that are alive with wildlife.
Ashby
At our Ashby site, the children love visiting the resident ducks who make their home on our pond, and each year they eagerly watch for the arrival of frogs and tadpoles.
Ravenstone
At Ravenstone, our flock of friendly chickens provides endless fascination as the children check for freshly laid eggs and observe their daily routines.
Across both sites, birds, squirrels and other wildlife frequently visit, offering rich opportunities for curiosity, observation and learning.
Healthy living is woven into our outdoor practice. Children help care for dedicated growing areas where fruits and vegetables flourish, learning about nature, responsibility and where food comes from.
Our beautiful woodland spaces inspire imaginative and creative play, allowing children to build confidence, independence and a deep understanding of the world around them. Whether they are exploring natural materials, inventing stories, or navigating new challenges, the outdoors gives them the freedom to take risks safely and develop resilience.
We believe that regular outdoor play is vital for children’s development. By giving them the courage and independence to explore the great outdoors, we nurture confident, curious learners who feel connected to nature and empowered in their own abilities.
